Welcome

to the personal web page of Cara M. Marshall!  In September 2003 I began my pursuit for a Ph.D. in Economics at Fordham University.  My specializations are International Economics and Finance.  So far the courses I have taken include: Price Theory I and II, Macroeconomics I, Matrix Algebra & Calculus, International Trade, Domestic Financial Markets, Investment Analysis, and Applied Econometrics.  I will begin taking my comprehensive exams next fall and at that point I will be six classes away from dissertation stage.  In December of 2002, I earned an MBA with a focus on Quantitative Analysis, or CIS, from St. John's University.  Prior to St. John's, I earned a bachelor of science from the State University of New York College at Oswego. My major was  Marketing and minor was Computer Information Science. I graduated in May of 1999 and began working for the Institute for International Research, the world's largest international information company, in New York City.  I started there as a marketing assistant, working to promote manufacturing related conferences and was promoted to marketing manager.  In April 2001, I was transferred to the Pharmaceutical Training Institute, PTI, a division of IIR which develops pharmaceutical training events.  There I wrote and implemented marketing plans for 3-4 training events per month.  My additional duties included: the creation and maintenance of a budgeting/media mix software tool, the development and management of our monthly e-Newsletter, creating report templates for querying in Access, and I also acted as the primary contact between my division and our inhouse web department.

In July of 2002, I accepted a position as the Vice President for Learning Technologies at MTA Global in Port Jefferson, Long Island. In this role I developed a database to track and analyze all pertinent information regarding our contracts, clients, instructors and courses.  Primarily I have been working on developing a significant online presence for MTA.  This included the creation of a database-driven website which describes the 200+ courses that we offer and contains biographies of many of our instructors.  I also developed an infrastructure for us to deliver courses online and now work with instructors to develop the online course content for a variety of economics and finance-related e-courses.
